Grace Before Meat (1928 Prayer Book)
Two short graces before meals from Family Prayer in the 1928 American Book of Common Prayer.
Bless, O Father, thy gifts to our use and us to thy service; for Christ's sake. Amen.
Give us grateful hearts, our Father, for all thy mercies, and make us mindful of the needs of others; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Editorial reflection
Either grace takes a few seconds. The second turns thanks outward: a grateful heart is asked to make us mindful of the needs of others, a fitting line for a day of plenty.
